A letter~

I received a letter, a humiliating & heartwrenching letter, I am consumed with grief from it. I can't understand why someone would or could say such things about someone else's art, especially if I don't even know this person~

She stated my art is basically evil, my use of nudity in my art is obscene, and that I am searching for something, and other things I just don't want to mention.

She doesn't know my heart, she doesn't know my motives for creating pieces, she has no clue as to who I am & why I create~

My heart is aching~

I don't know you, in fact i just clocked on your site becuase your on blog rocket. but i just have to comment on your hurt feelings.

You should be so jumping for joy! Your art will NEVER please everyone. Dont even try to make it that way. To this day plenty of people see Mona Lisa and they say it sucks. The fact that your art created enough EMOTION in someone to cause them to write you a letter means your art is GREAT!

one more thing - I like your art!

Izabella, I am so sorry that happened to you. :( I do agree with everything Mike wrote above. This kind of thing is unfortunately an occupational hazard~ when you put your art out there for public consumption you are just going to have to deal with the fact that people are going to respond to your art, and not everyone is going to respond in a way that you'd like. Just keep on creating and putting it out there.

Izabella, this lady is obviously insane. People have been doing artfully nude artwork since forever. She better not check out my site as she will have another nice artfully nude show! Anyway, she really should mind her own business. Dont wory about her, your art is wicked cool! Brandi

I am really, really sorry for your hurt. I think your art is beautiful and I'm sure there are many more who think like me than there are who think like your letter writer.
Peace..............

I don't know you either, but as an artist I know that any reaction to what you do is positive. We are here to affect people with our visual creations, and that's what art is for.

I know how it hits the nerve though. Keep up the good work and don't let anyone push you down.

Hmm...as a matter of fact...why don't you join me at ArtBabe? I'm gathering female artists from all over creation in one website. There's a gallery, blogspace and lots of other features. The addy is http://www.artba.be
Take a look :)

Nice blog! I think you're probably going to kick my butt on this Battle of the Blogs. But I don't mind losing to such a gorgeously artistic site.

Oh My goodness what is wrong with people I am so sorry someone actually would say things like that about your art!! I find it so wonderful and love all that you make! please know that just one sad individual shouldn't ruin even one minute of your day!! you have to feel sorry for that person because obviously she/he has no idea what truely is art and how you create what you do is really from your heart! You are so very talented! really just write this off as someone just having no tact or idea of what art really is!!! I have your blog linked to mine because I love it so much want everyone to see it!!
big hugs Linda

I like your art its different from what im used to seeing. its very original to my eyes and I hardly categorize it as obscene. I agree with Mike jump with joy atleast your art affected that person in a bad or good way ... its what counts

I'm sur ethat this is exactly the type of person who refuses to allow their kids to learn about sex in school, would picket Michaelangelo's David and believes that condoms are the devils work. Fantastic that you moved her to write to you - you've "arrived" in the art world. I say things that are a million times worse than the tastful nudity in your artwork and ive never recieved any hater mail. I'll just lurk here in your shadow. Please keep creating!

Oh boy then Michael Angelo must have been in some kind of hot water over the Sistine Chapel! I believe Adam in "The Creation" is nude! And what of Master Da Vinci's Vetruvian Man? Surely he fell from grace over that one!

Clearly anyone who takes the time to write you such an offensive letter simply fails to understand the nature of an artist's heart and soul. All I can offer is that one of my favourite quotes says "Real art has the ability to make us nervous."

Keep doing what you are doing and know that you are meant to use your gift in the way that speaks to your heart.

I just came upon your blog today, I surfed on over through a link from a friend's journal and yours is a new favorite. I have started reading from the beginning and I love your spunk, your honesty, your commentary on the Strip in California cracked me up... And that girl who wrote you is just sad. I used to put up with people like that all the time. Feel sorry for her because of her sorry life and then forget about it.

(((hugs)))
